A bit about me

How my journey began

First year

My passion for jewellery making was first inspired by watching videos of goldsmiths handcrafting jewellery. The process of handmaking jewellery fascinated me, and I was in awe at all of the skill and time that went into making a 1 of 1 high end jewellery.

These videos inspired me to pursue my own path as a jeweller, so I began saving up my money to invest it into the tools that I had seen the jewellers use in the videos.

I’d learn by watching one of these goldsmiths making jewellery and then I'd replicate their techniques using my own equipment. This method of learning allowed me to build up my skills enough to begin experimenting with my craft.

At this stage my jewellery was beginning to be noticed and clients would reach out to me to make them unique pieces of custom jewellery.

Second year

After spending the first year experimenting with design and creating jewellery I decided that it was time to pursue this path seriously.

I didn't know any jewellers personally, so I decided to contact local goldsmiths to ask for some advice on this path. One of the goldsmiths that I spoke to informed me about a place called the Jewellery Quarter that has a community of jewellers and craftsman and told me that if I was serious about becoming a jeweller then I should study there.

With this guidance, I began researching for opportunities in the Jewellery Quarter. This is where I encountered the school of jewellery (Europe’s largest jewellery school) and it looked like a perfect place for me to develop my crafting skills, and to work alongside a community of other jewellers, gemmologists and watchmakers.

To get into the jewellery school I organised a meeting with the course leader, and drove up to Birmingham with my dad holding a display box full of the best jewellery that I had made, in hopes to impress them.

Whilst at the meeting I had a discussion about my path as a jeweller and displayed my handmade jewellery to the course director, thankfully he was impressed with my jewellery and was happy to accept me as a member of the jewellery school.

What are my plans?

I'm currently practising my jewellery-making techniques and developing my jewellery design in the school of jewellery. I plan to continue growing my jewellery business and to take every learning opportunity to expand my skillset.

The vision I have for my business is to work with the most precious of metals and gemstones that the world has to offer, creating unique and complex jewellery that inspires awe and curiosity.

I'm really looking forward to this journey ahead and I hope you stick along to enjoy it with me!
